Coins are metal discs that are used as money. Coins are usually the smallest denominations in money, and are used to make up an exact amount when the amount required is not in exact dollar amounts.
In our currency system we have 100 cents that make up One dollar.
The amount a coin is worth is printed on it.
Writing Money Amounts
$ is the symbol we use for dollars c is the symbol we use for cents
When we write a money amount, we write both the dollar amounts and the cent amounts with a decimal point separating the two. Eg: Twelve Dollars and Fifty Five Cents is written like this: $12.55c
If there are no dollars we need to write a zero rather than leaving it blank.
To make sure we don’t get confused with unit amounts, we always include the dollar amount and write cents with 2 digits. Eg: if we only have five cents we write it like this; $0.05c
Educational software Instruction :1. Count up the coins then type the amount in the ‘Answer Box’ provided.
2. Press ‘Enter’ when you have finished.
Make sure that the appropriate currency denomination settings are correct in the 'Admin Configuration Section'.
