Young Einstein Mathematics Educational Software ContentsActivity Number 139Heading : One Or Two Dice ChanceDescription : Determine the chance of an simple event on one or two dice, expressed in fractionsAim/Questions : Derived Educational software theory used:One Or Two Dice Chance
Chance is sometimes called luck.
When someone calls you lucky, it means that something has happened that normally does not. You can work out how lucky you really were by understanding how chance works.
First you need to look at the problem and work out how many different ways or options can exist.
For example take a pair of shoes and work out how many different ways you can put them on your feet. 1. Left Shoe on left foot and right shoe on right foot. 2. Left shoe on right foot and right shoe on left foot.
We can say here that there are 2 different options.
We can also say that if you were blindfolded and given one chance, you would have a one out of two chance of getting it correct. This can be written as a fraction ½
Educational software Instruction :1. Work out the answer to the question then type your answers into the ‘Answer Boxes’ provided as a fraction.
2. Simplify this fraction if possible.
3. Click the ‘OK’ button when you have finished.
