Heading : Negative Position

Description : Work out the final location on a number line with negative numbers.

Aim/Questions : Christopher started at zero and moved 12 steps backwards/forwards. He then moved 2 steps backwards/forwards. What number is he standing over when he finished?

Negative Position

 

Number lines sometimes have a + (positive) and – (negative) side.

 

All the numbers on the negative side are prefixed with the negative sign so that we can tell the difference.

1.  Work out where the person will end up.

 

2.  Type your answer in the ‘Answer Box’ provided.
