Young Einstein Mathematics Educational Software ContentsActivity Number 329Heading : ChequesDescription : Work out the amount written on a cheque. Including Cents.Aim/Questions : Fill in the answer boxes. Educational software theory used:Cheques
Sometimes money is sent to other people in the form of a cheque. This is safer than using real money because it can be easily posted.
Cheques are really a simple letter that tells you : 1. Who the cheque is from. 2. When it was written. 3. Who it is written to. 4. The amount of money that is being paid.
Cheques show both Dollars and Cents, with a decimal point separating the two items.
It takes 100 Cents to make 1 Dollar, so the cents part of the number is always less than 100. When writing money amounts in numbers, always put in the zeros if there are no cents.
For example: Five dollars and twenty five cents is shown in numbers with a dollar sign and decimal point like this: $5.25
On a cheque, the amount is very important, and is written in words and also as a number starting with the $ symbol, which means dollars.
To work with the cheques in this program, match the written words to the correct amount in numbers.
Educational software Instruction :1. From the cheque read the amount in words then type the amount using numbers into the ‘Answer Box’ provided.
2. Press ‘Enter’ when you have finished.
