Patches – What are they?
Patches are additional software freely provided by the supplier for 2 reasons.
1. To add additional functionality to your existing software
2. To correct bugs of software glitches that have been previously been identified.
The full version above already has the most recent patch included.
If you believe you have found a problem with the software, please check the FAQ section and see if it has already been fixed with a previous patch. If it is not listed there, please fill in a fault report and we will address it ASAP.

Do I need to use patches?
Check the about screen in your software to determine what patch you already have.
The latest patch is both a bug fix and adds additional modules to the software so all users should download and install these patches.
Generally :
If the patch is to address bugs or software glitches then you should use the most recent patch available.
If the patch is just for additional functionality, then it is optional.
Check the FAQ to find out more about what the patches are for.

How do I install a patch or upgrade my existing software?
Young Einstein Mathematics is made up of several groups of file sets. These broadly include:
a) The executable files
b) Instructions (.rtf files) – each of the 330+ activities have their own detailed theory and instructions
c) Sound (.mp3 files) – each of the 330+ activities instructions have an associated audio track
d) Sound2 (.mp3 files) – A large additional set miscellaneous audio files used for general feedback
e) Printable manual

Any or all of these sets can be downloaded and installed independently. Depending on the nature of the change you may need to replace one or all of these components.

Since the latest upgraded adds several new modules, it means that all uses should do parts a) b) c) and d)

Step a). Executable File
a) Download the most recent executable to your PC. Click this
(This will be a compressed winzip file for faster downloads.)
b) Extract the file on your PC (run the downloaded self extracting file)
c) Using Windows explorer, Replace your existing executable file with the new one.
Your existing executable file should find it in C:\Program Files\Einstein\EINSTEIN.EXE, unless you have previously installed the software to a different location.
Your Executable file upgrade is complete.

Step b). Instruction Files
a) Download the additional instruction set update files to your PC. Click this
(This will be a compressed winzip file for faster downloads.)
b) Extract the files on your PC (run the downloaded self extracting file)
c) Place the files into the ../Einstein/Instructions/ directory which should already be on you computer where you initially installed the software.
Your Instructions upgrade is complete.

Step c). Sound Files 1
a) Download the additional audio files to your PC. Click this
(This will be a compressed winzip file for faster downloads.)
b) Extract the files on your PC (run the downloaded self extracting file)
c) Place the files into the ../Einstein/Sound/ directory which should already be on you computer where you initially installed the software.
Your Sounds upgrade is complete.

This download file is very large (53Mb) so unless you have a quick broadband connection, it will take a very long time. If you have previously installed the software from CD and you just need the additional audio files for this sections then download Click this for the smaller subset and repeat step c with this file instead of the one above.

Step d). Sound Files 2
a) Download the additional audio files to your PC. Click this
(This will be a compressed winzip file for faster downloads.)
b) Extract the files on your PC (run the downloaded self extracting file)
c) Place the files into the ../Einstein/Sound2/ directory which should already be on you computer where you initially installed the software.
Your Additional Sounds upgrade is complete.
